February 10th, 1846 Dear Diary, We have been traveling for 6 days now. I'm already getting tired of it. I believe we are still in Illinois. I'm having to sleep on the ground in a tent! My dinner for these past days have been rice. Just rice and no water. I think I might be becoming friends with the family who has a wagon behind us. I think her name is Cindy. She seems really nice but she's 7 years old, which is no where near my age! Well I need to go feed our horse! -Aubrey
May 24th, 1846 Dear Diary, Well it has been a while since I have wrote in this diary. I've just had no time to write in my journal because all I've been thinking about is sleep! I miss my old home, but according to my parents we had to leave and we had no choice! My parents said they would tell me why later on this trip. I'm still questioning why now and not later? Well I have to go braid my sisters hair. She asked me to do it when I got spare time. Well I guess this is my spare time! -Aubrey
August 3rd, 1846 Dear Diary, This summer was so hot. I don't think I have had that much water coming out of my body from sweat before. We had hardly any water. There were hardly any rivers along our journey! Remember that family with the girl Cindy? Well I guess they had a 2 year old baby and he passed away from dehydration. Isn't that sad? I don't know how everyone is going to make it to wherever our journey ends. -Aubrey
November 16th, 1846 Dear Diary, Its getting close to Thanksgiving time! My parents just told me we ma have a feast if we can find some food. I doubt that will happen though. Our plans for that day is probably just to keep traveling to our destination, if there is a destination at all. Maybe we are just running away till we find a good place to build a new town. If that's the case then I hope we find that place soon! -Aubrey
February 22nd, 1847 Dear Diary, I know its crazy to think, but its been over a year since we have been on this journey! We still haven't reached our destination yet! My parents did finally tell me why we left our hometown. It was because everyone was in fear that the mobs would soon come to destroy us. That makes a lot more sense now. -Aubrey
May 12th, 1847 Dear Diary, Everyone keeps saying that we are almost there. I guess we had an actual destination. I wonder what we will do there and why we chose that place. Well sadly a lot of my friends have died on this journey, even Cindy. She had some disease, I forgot the name, but they knew she wasn't going to last long because we caught it at the last stage and we didn't have any medicine. I miss her a lot. -Aubrey
July 25th, 1847 Dear Diary, We finally made it! We arrived yesterday, but I didn't have nay time to write in my journal. I'm so excited for what this amazing landscape will bring for us. I believe what my father told me was that we were going to build a town here. Although this was a hard and sad journey, I actually made it. I never thought I would make it, but i did. Now I must go because we are having a bug feast! Yay! -Aubrey
